On Tuesday's I eat cake

Hello Bloggers!

As you all will be aware now I love baking (especially cakes). When I went to The Great Yorkshire Show I made rainbow cupcakes with jam and buttercream icing- yum!

 Ingredients

175 Stork Margarine
175g Self Raising Flour
175g Caster Sugar
3 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Dr. Oetker Gel Food Colouring in colours;
Sky Blue, Hot Pink, Sunshine Yellow, Bright Red, Neon Orange

When I'd mixed all the ingredients up I divided the mixture between 5 bowls and coloured them. I then filled the 12 cupcake tin in with my new cupcake cases from Sainsbury's, they're called London Calling. They are really cute. They have 3 different designs; red with white spots, white with union jacks on and blue with beefeaters on. Although I'd layered the cake mix I would've probably made a bigger mix next time as the layers needed to be bigger and it was a struggle to fill all the cases equally! I left them in the oven for 25-30 minutes before leaving them to cool on a rack. I then cut a circle out of the top and added a dollop of Bonne Maman Strawberry Jam and some buttercream. I don't use exact measurements for the buttercream I just mix icing sugar and butter until it's how I like it!

I was really pleased with how they turned out and everyone said they loved them. I really should start baking more and try and sell them somewhere (I wish).

Update: I made these for Luke's cricket teas on Saturday and I piped the mixture into the cases, which was time consuming but worked so much better layering the cupcakes! They worked fab and the colours were so bright! I really love making these cupcakes filled with buttercream and jam- YUM!

Hope you're having a good start to the week! Click on the links below to keep following me and seeing my updates!

Moody Monday's Volume 17: The Great Yorkshire Show, Baking, Blog posts

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you've all had a good weekend. Mine was busy as usual. This time focused on baking so that I could help Luke's Mum with cricket teas. I made Rainbow Cupcakes and M&M and White Chocolate Fudge Brownies. It is fair to say that they went down a treat!

The house is nearly finished and I should be able to get the keys soon so I can start doing what work I can on it. So a post will be following later this week on my 'Homeware wants'. These will be the items that I would love to purchase for my home in an ideal world. However, of course I need to stop spending quite so much so I might not end up buying anything on that list- but a girl can dream still!

This time next week I will be in London with Luke ready for our mini break away together. I'm really looking forward to spending some time together and exploring a bit more of the city I have come to love. I always find there are not enough hours in the day to explore what I want to of London so hopefully I will get to do a bit more of that since we are staying in one hotel and we can get up and go! I can't say I'm one to plan down to the last minute of what we will do. I'm more of a get up and see where the day takes me. We've planned two dinners but most of what we do will depend on the weather! Fingers crossed for some sunshine! As I'm in London next week I will be scheduling some blog posts before I go, however if I do take my laptop I will try and upload a post whilst I'm away. I will most likely fail at doing this, but I will also be uploading pictures to my instagram page so make sure you're following me @therestisstillunwrittenblog I will be following people back!

I also went to The Great Yorkshire Show last week and saw lots of piggies, cows, horses and sheep. I ate lots of food and I had such a good day with my cousin, auntie and boyfriend. The weather was beautiful, I think you could tell as I had a bit of sunburn on my face! It was my first year there and I would definitely return. I saw Prince Charles as well!

Hope you all have a great week! Look out for my posts Tuesday and Friday. You can also click the links below to follow me on social media for my updates between posts.

Belated Moody Monday's Volume 17: Catching Up

Happy Monday Everyone!

Wow it has been a busy one! As you know I was in London last weekend (26th-29th June) with Adeline to see Taylor Swift. As a result I didn't have the time to write a blog post for the Monday so I'm REALLY sorry about that!

I thought I could use this post to do what I always do and catch you up on everything that happened in London and the week just gone.

Adeline and I were lucky enough to travel first class down on the train and it was great because we got endless cups of tea, biscuits, cake, sandwiches and crisps. I will pre warn you that this post will focus a lot on the food that I have eaten (which is a lot and every bite was yummy)!

We arrived in scorching London and checked into the Liverpool Street Travelodge. Dad had booked us into a family room and the extra space was welcomed especially in the heat! After freshening up and getting ready to go out we left to explore the streets. I wanted to take Adeline to Jamie's on Creechurch Lane. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco (of course) and some nachos to go with it. Both were divine and it was really nice to sit and have a drink and a chat about the forthcoming weekend.

After we had finished at Jamie's we went to Moo Grill (another place I'd been before and loved). They have the best steak ever. I'm not usually a steak fan but every mouthful was so tasty. So tasty in fact that my mouth is watering at this very minute upon remembering this meal! I ordered the Fillet Steak, the most expensive but definitely worth it, with fries and garlic mayo. We'd already had prosecco so we decided to just have water as it was far too warm! Unfortunately I forgot to snap a photo of this meal (boo) so you'll just have to imagine what I'm describing but I would definitely recommend you visit!

After our steaks we strolled back to our hotel and watched Florence playing at Glastonbury snuggled into our comfy beds. She was fabulous by the way and if you didn't see her then it's available to watch on BBC iPlayer. It is definitely worth a watch!

Saturday

We were definitely well rested after a good first night's sleep in London. I was incredibly excited for Taylor Swift as we were seeing her that afternoon in Hyde Park. We showered and dressed and dragged our luggage down to Polo Bar for breakfast. This cafe is amazing and had such great reviews but we simply stumbled upon it that morning. We were starving so Adeline and I ordered the Polo Bar Special. Instead of egg I swapped mine for a hash brown. They were more than happy to accommodate this request. The staff were friendly and the place was really lovely to eat in. The food was so good and we felt ready for the long day ahead!

We headed for the tube and went to get checked in at the Hilton Hotel. Whilst we waited for our room to be ready we left our bags with the concierge and strolled to Starbucks and then taking our drinks to chill out in Green Park. The weather was beautiful and it was really nice to see so many families and friends enjoying the sun with a picnic and cheeky drink!

After getting comfortable in our room at the Hilton we walked up to Hyde Park. I was beyond excited for Taylor Swift and we were lucky enough to have gotten VIP tickets. It meant not having to queue all day and in that weather it would have been awful (I don't do well with heat it gives me terrible headaches). We stood by the barriers on the VIP side however we chose to grab some food and stand in the shaded grandstand part.

It was nice to enjoy my pulled pork burger with spicy coleslaw whilst watching all the action on the main stage. It was much better than being crammed into such a small space in that heat!

Every act that came on before Taylor was fab and was fully deserving of a spot on that stage. Rae Morris didn't get enough support I don't think she has a fantastic voice with great songs and all people could focus on was her dancing. It angered me so much to think that people were judging her because of how she wanted to dance. Quite ironic when they supported Taylor who always has crazy dance moves because thats how the music makes her feel. Silly really and a shame to miss out on such talent! Nevertheless, I sung to along with her and I really enjoyed her set. I'd seen her perform when she was much smaller as an artist when she supported Noah and the Whale so it was really nice to see her grow as an artist.

I was so happy to finally see Vance Joy live, he didn't disappoint. I have since added Georgia to my Spotify playlist as it was astounding to hear that live. My favourite song was 'Mess is Mine' so it was really nice to hear that live for the first time.

John Newman was up next and although not my favourite artist he did put on a good show and I did know a few songs so we had a little boogie. I definitely used it to sit down and eat my food though ready for Ellie Goulding.

OMG ELLIE GOULDING. She was fab. Definitely such a good act to see live she was electric. Her high energy was infectious and her voice sounds just as amazing as it does on her records. I was definitely singing along at the top of my voice. It was so lovely to hear her play 'Starry Eyed' as that was one of my favourite songs that I could not stop listening to!

Finally, Taylor came on stage and I was so excited. My wristband flashed in time with the beat and she was more amazing than I could have imagined. This was the first time I saw her live and it was truly magical. Every song was perfect and every outfit made my jaw drop in awe. Wow I wish I could pull off clothes like that. I was watching the stand in the middle and saw Andrea Swift leave a few times and hug fans that were eagerly waiting. I saw Taylor's guests walk through the crowd as they made their way to the stage. It was a good view from where we were. They walked straight through the VIP area- surreal! I'll be honest I did tear up a few times as I sung along to my favourite songs...I can't really say why. I think it was because it was crazy to think I was actually there. I'd wanted to see Taylor live for so long. I'd waited years to see her live and I was so upset when I couldn't go to her Speak Now Tour as my friend had booked tickets without me and then to top it off I spent the night of the concert revising for my french speaking exam. Luckily it went well...I was sad to miss out on seeing her.

That night Adeline and I spent it lounging in our Hilton Hotel room with a bottle of prosecco and room service, watching trashy TV (the best kind of night).

We went to bed late and decided to set our alarm early to go down for breakfast. The Hilton put on this amazing buffet. I didn't know what to load my plate with first!

I finally got to go to the Häagen Dazs Restaurant in Leicester Square as well. A whole menu of puddings?! Definitely my place to eat! It was gorgeous I wish I could have finished my pud! I ordered the belgian waffle dream. This has a warm belgian waffle with a scoop of Dulce de Leche and a scoop of pralines and cream and drizzled in hot butterscotch sauce. I was in heaven!

We spent the rest of our day wandering down to Piccadilly Circus and then eventually taking the tube to Covent Garden before going to Prezzo for dinner. Yes I have reviewed this place before and I honestly think it's one of my favourite places to eat. If you have a taste card with Natwest you get 241 on food! So definitely worth a visit! I ordered the Pollo Carbonara. It was to die for! It was baked in the oven and smothered in cheese. BEAUTIFUL! I would definitely recommend it!

We stayed at the Liverpool Street Travelodge again on Sunday night as we had our train home in the morning. We had breakfast at our new favourite place- Polo Bar before heading for the train. The train home was great and seemed to go fast. I had my last croissant on the train as well. Beautiful with jam and butter and 2 cups of tea. It was nice to relax after what had been a very busy weekend. My weekend away in London was definitely fab and I loved it! I can't wait to return with Luke later this month. Sorry this post was a little late I had a lot to write! Stay tuned for more posts!

Moody Monday's Volume 16:

Hello Everyone!

It's that dreaded Monday again and the beginning of the week, however it is one I am really looking forward to! I have lots of exciting things to tell you.

Last week I spent every day with Luke and it was weird sleeping on my own for the first time in a week on Saturday night (sad face). I really enjoyed spending the week together and I really hate that I probably won't get to see him much this week as we are both really busy.

Today I have been for an interview and I'm happy to say I have sorted my final year school placement and I can't wait to start. It is scary to think that this is my final year of my University degree, however I am excited to start with a class of my own.

It is also the week I go to London with Adeline to see Taylor Swift at Hyde Park! I leave on Friday so I am already trying to think of what I am going to pack since I am helping out at my previous placement school in Year 1.

I can't wait to explore London and eat some good food and hopefully drink some prosecco whilst I'm down there too! I will be posting lots of pictures on my instagram and tweeting whilst I'm down there so don't forget to click on the links below to make sure you're following me!

I'm also getting my hair done as well this Thursday which is long overdue because quite frankly it's getting out of hand! My ponytail is incredibly bushy!

So it's fair to say I have such a busy week ahead of me but one that I am excited for. The only thing missing is seeing Luke (sad face), but I can't complain because we have spent a lot of time together recently. I just wished we lived closer.

OH! I forgot to say I've bought my own house. More to come on this as we get closer to completion and I can take some photos of my own. I'm so so excited for this new adventure! Will definitely keep you all updated on this!

Hope you're all well! Enjoy your week!

Moody Monday's Volume 14: I'M BACK!

Hello Bloggers!

I'm very happy to finally say I am back! I have finished placement and I have finished University for the Summer which means that I will be able to spend more time writing my blog. I have to say I have missed writing my blog. It's so nice to cosy up in bed with a cuppa and sit and write some posts, I definitely have a lot to say and don't get me wrong I tried to sit and write a post (hence why I've returned to quite a lot of draft posts), but I've not had the time to finish them. Teaching takes over your life especially when on placement, because I've been working so hard to ensure I get good grades and luckily that's happened I've improved and I finally feel like I can definitely do this! I can't wait to graduate and have my own class!

After going back to University on Friday to hand everything in from placement I have to admit I'm feeling a little worried about final year. Of course the final year is harder, however I have to juggle studies, placement as well as a job hunt! Very, very, very stressful (screams)! Nevertheless, I don't have to think of that until after Summer!

Summer, Summer, Summer! I am so excited about Summer this year, I have a lot planned for once. If I think back to what I was doing last it was spent watching every season of Gossip Girl on Netflix (totally worth it in the end). However, this year I have lots of exciting things planned that actually involve leaving the house and my bed (shock).

I'm seeing Dirty dancing tonight at Love Rouge bakery with my friend Adeline. On Thursday I'm seeing Hozier at the O2 Academy with Adeline as well. On Monday it's my little brother's 17th birthday as well as seeing Maroon 5 with Hollie. On the 26th June I'm heading to London with my bestie Adeline again to see Taylor Swift in Hyde Park (very excited), it will be an amazing weekend in London! As if that wasn't enough I'll be going back to London on the 27th July for a short getaway with my boyfriend. So I have a lot planned for this Summer which should mean I must have lots to write for my blog.

I am blogging whilst watching Gossip Girl again and I'm already on Season 2 and I only started re watching it on Wednesday! Although I assure you all my unhealthy obsession for Gossip Girl will not keep me in this Summer.

I would also like to say I have just started watching Prison Break with Luke as well and I am so engrossed in it! I couldn't recommend it enough! Thank god for Netflix. Think I'll be having a lazy bank holiday Monday watching more episodes with him (yay)! Hope you're all enjoying your extra long weekends!

Moody Mondays Volume 13: Feeling positive but ill!

Hello Bloggers!

I'm sat in bed feeling a little worse for wear so I thought I'd take a break from planning/resourcing and write a quick post! My observation went so well on Friday and I'm so so so happy and positive about my progress. I really feel like I can do Early Years- well! Unfortunately, with being in school  comes the dreaded illnesses and germs that get spread around like wildfire! I'm currently feeling sorry for myself with a sore throat, headache and snotty nose. Yes this is a very attractive picture I'm painting of myself (oops). Nevertheless, I've sat and watched 90210 in bed and done planning as well as reading up on teaching blogs to get ideas.

I am really enjoying being positive Megan for a change. I might not be feeling great right now but everything is going good so far. I have lots to look forward to this Summer! I have two trips to London planned, one with Adeline to see Taylor Swift and one with Luke probably to sight see and spend more time together doing 'coupley things'. I am seeing Hozier and Maroon 5 in a few weeks as well as going to a cute cinema screening of Dirty Dancing with Adeline at a bakery in Headingley! Cupcakes and cocktails sounds like an amazing idea (if I do say so myself).

I have less than 11 days till I finish placement and University and then I can look forward to a nice long relaxing Summer to prepare myself for third and final year...wow how time has flown. This time next year I will be preparing for graduation and starting a job...as a teacher...with my own class (screams). That idea seems even more daunting than placement itself! NQT year will be hard, but when it's over I know I will continue to improve as the years progress.

I hope you're all doing good! Let me know about your exciting plans for the Summer/weeks ahead! Don't forget to follow me by using the links below!

Friday Favourites: Prezzo

Hello Bloggers!

As you know this time last week I was in London. On the Friday night I went out for some drinks a meal and a catch up with my good friend Hannah who I met on placement at Kent Life.

After having a drink and watching the comedy night at Belshey's we wandered down to Leicester Square where we hopped into Prezzo.

Italian might well be one of my favourite foods (but let's be honest I love most food with a few exceptions).

I was starving and I couldn't resist the stuffed garlic mushrooms that were tempting me. I had to eat them! I also ordered Spaghetti Carbonara for my main. Hannah and I decided to share a bottle of Prosecco between us.

I enjoyed the food so much, the restaurant was reasonably priced and the portions were so big. The bottle of Prosecco was more than enough for two and tasted so nice! Wasn't too fizzy that made you feel full, it had just the right taste and was lovely and light.

I couldn't fault any part of the meal. The staff were friendly and welcoming, they were attentive, the food was so yummy and presented nicely. I probably could've ordered more but I physically couldn't eat it!

I'm not making this post too long as I forgot to write a post on Tuesday due to somebody being very distracting (thank you Luke) however I am doubling up on posts instead so stay tuned for a double Tuesday!

I hope you've been having a fabulous week and that you are all looking forward to Valentine's Day. Surprisingly this is the first Valentine's Day I will spend with a boyfriend and one I'm actually looking forward to. Sorry to previous ex's but I've not had someone make me this happy before. It's nice my parents really like this one *giggles*.

Have a fabulous week end share your Valentines Plans below. Last year I had an anti Valentines Day so no matter what you're doing I'd love to know.

Moody Monday's Volume 8: HAPPY MONDAY

Happy Monday Bloggers!

Yes yes yes it is true Megan has been so happy recently that I just have to share this with you all. As you probably know I've spent my weekend in London at the Nursery World Show 2015 and I have learnt so much that will really help with my teaching. If anything it's confirmed which age range I'd like to work with. Ideally working in Reception, but I'd love to be able to get some experience in a Nursery. I met some really inspiring people as well as making new friends.

London was so much fun as I met up with my friend from Kent Life (my placement back in November) and we had some lovely food paired with a beautiful, bubbly bottle of prosseco (mmm)! I also accidentally bought a new piglet in the disney store. How could I resist really? We had a lovely walk to Trafalgar Square which looks beautiful at night. I was singing songs from Frozen at the top of my voice! YES HAPPY MEG!

Selfie's with Piglet and Hannah in Trafalgar Square
Yes it seems that right now I am completely and utterly HAPPY. I can't stop smiling. Someone new has come into my life that makes me incredibly happy and I feel that finally I can move on and forget my worries. Hopefully this year will continue to be good for me because I think after last year I kinda deserve some good luck right? I will of course share with you who this person is, although the time might not be right so I'll leave that until I'm ready to shout it to the world.

I will be doing individual posts from my London trip. Tomorrow will be another Teaching Tuesday as I have quite a lot to share about the Nursery World show which I think would be quite beneficial to all trainee teachers/teachers who are working with Early Years children.

The realisation has hit that I unfortunately have an R.E portfolio to finish which is due Thursday (help) but I'm in a good mood so motivation is certainly not lacking! I've got some good music on and I'm grooving whilst working which is always a good sign!

I hope you've all had a good week last week and a good weekend! I hope this week will be good for you! Share with me a positive moment? Today will be a very rare happy, positive Monday for us all.

MONDAY TIP: If you get chance listen to Maroon 5- Sugar. I fully recommend the video and it makes me happy and is soon good. If you've listened to it let me know what you think?

Great shots if you're an Adam Levine fan!

August Update!

On Monday I'm off to London (eeee!) to visit my childhood best friend Hannah. I can't wait to be a tourist and take lots of photos which will be posted on my twitter and of course I will document my journey on here as I always try to do (and mostly fail but not this time)!

I've also been teaching myself to play guitar and although I'm not great right now (it's only been a week) I have loved teaching myself using YouTube videos and the odd tip from my brother. I think it's helped my confidence with trying new things because if I'm honest I've wanted to learn guitar for ages but I thought I'd be rubbish at it! As well as learning a guitar I've also started being more vocal with my singing (funny). A certain person (he knows who he is) gave me some good feedback when I was singing to myself on Xbox one day and since then I've tried to stop mumbling and sing loud...more often. Surprisingly my mum was always someone who told me to shut up but she actually sat and listened to me singing a Shania Twain song (yes yes guilty pleasure ok?) I wanted to do on karaoke. She actually said I was good and she wouldn't stop smiling and it may seem like a small thing but coming from my mum that's a really nice and lovely comment. I wouldn't have even done that in front of her had I not sort of sung to the person accidentally on Xbox (so thank you).

So you may have noticed (obviously) that the last few months I've got myself back on Xbox which has also been another hobby of mine (yes yes do I ever leave the house) but if I enjoy something I'd rather sit and do that than waste my time trying to impress people who clearly don't bother with me! Black Ops 2 has finally become a game I am relatively good at and I've started talking to old friends again as well as making new ones which is always fun.

There have been some big changes in my life recently. I split up with my boyfriend and it may sound harsh but since the break up I've never been happier. It felt like a lot of feelings had been suppressed and I was just going through the motions of being in a relationship without actually enjoying it. It was definitely a hard decision to make because ultimately I have lost my best friend. The bond we had prior to the relationship is gone and if I'm honest being friends is not something I want to do because it feels awkward now. If anyone has tried the friends thing they know what I'm talking about! I guess I should've seen it coming, I mean it was a scenario I had considered but I guess I never expected myself to end the relationship. I've moved on though as I said I'm really happy and I'm in a good place. I've focused on my friends and found new hobbies and also made more time to write my blog.

So far this long break from Uni has exceeded expectations and I can't wait to experience as much as possible before returning to Uni in September!

I hope these blog posts are better and I hope you stick around for the journey!
