Friday Favourites: Wedding Reception outfit

Hello Beautiful People of the Internet!

I don't usually write posts like this I am aware so I am sorry if this is not written in a style you would expect. On Saturday night Luke's friend had invited us to his wedding reception so I was instantly panicking about what to wear. Now those who know me know that I am not very girly. I love my converse to death and short floaty dresses are my kind of thing. I even went to my Year 13 prom in converse- I still don't regret my decision to do so.

When I went to London Adeline and I looked around the shops in Covent Garden and I decided to go into Oasis to see if they had a dress that was summery and something different to what I already had at home. I tend to wear the same things so I was eager to change it up and look a little different than what I usually would.

I found this beautiful yellow dress (the only one left which was in my size which I thought was fate) which had butterflies over it. They were blue, pink, white, yellow and outlined in black. It was perfect, really me. That style of dress really suits me as it was figure hugging until it got to my tummy as I do enjoy my food not great to have it clinging to my belly! I instantly fell in love and it was in the sale at £28.00.

When I came home I dug my black heeled sandals, from New Look, out I wore for my 18th birthday night out and I've never worn them again. I was determined to be girly and wear them without falling over! I also picked out my bright blue clutch from Dorothy Perkins. I used the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in the shade Fondant on my nails and toes. I bought some fake tan to use on my milk bottle legs as well. I bought the St. Tropez tan optimiser and the St. Moritz spray bottle tan from Home Bargains.

For my hair I tied my hair in a half and half. Half of it was as a bun and then the rest that was down was curled. I was really happy with how my hair curled. It lasted all night even to the next day parts were still curled.

I would like to point out that I took my heels off because I was going home and didn't want to fall over in the dark. Plus Luke's friends thought it would be funny to look at the massive height difference between us. I had a great night and I really felt comfortable in this dress. Hopefully I'll wear heels again soon...maybe.

What's going on?

Hello Bloggers!

Thank you for bearing with me these last few weeks. It's fair to say I've been VERY busy! Placement is going well and I'm enjoying it, but it's really hard work. I really can't wait to qualify and have my own class. Yes it will be difficult, however I feel that I'll only improve once I'm spending more time in the classroom. Early Years has been a nice change for me and I'm so interested in how learning takes place during these vital years of a child's life.

I have yet to decide what year I want to apply for yet, I suppose I would be happy with either Reception, Year 1 or Year 2. Fingers crossed the next year rolls on and I end up doing well at University and move onto a new and exciting job.

I don't think I can stress how much Pinterest and twinkl have saved my life! They're so useful with providing resources and engaging ideas for my class. I can envision how I'd want to set up my class when I get my own classroom. I guess that makes me more excited. I just hope it looks as good as they do on Pinterest! I'd like to say I'm quite arty so hopefully the end product looks as good.

I hope you are all well! I promise that when I finish on 22nd May my blog posts will be resuming as normal! It will be nice to get back into my blogging schedule especially when there are lots of exciting things coming up!

I'll cut this short as I have planning and resourcing to finish!

Moody Monday's Volume 10: Exhausted and fed up

Hello Bloggers

This weekend has been awful to say the least. It was supposed to be a relaxing few days to spend with my boyfriend and family before placement started. However, I've had severe abdominal pain since Thursday morning and I ended up in A&E on Saturday night.

I'm on antibiotics now and hopefully I'll be back to my usual happy self again soon (fingers crossed). I'm just annoyed with being ill now. Really embarrassing telling people what's wrong with me (awful).

Sorry I haven't posted properly in a while the stress of assignments and my ever growing workload just got to me! I've finally handed all my work in and school placement starts. I'm really excited to get creative in lessons which being in Reception allows me to do. There are some boys that are interested in dinosaurs and I have some amazing dinosaur books for them.

I'm cutting it short today. Hopefully this week will turn positive as Luke is supposed to be coming on Saturday and I don't want to have to cancel.

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and you're looking forward to the rest of the week!

Teaching Tips: Nursery World Show 2015

Hello Bloggers!

As you know I went to London on the 5th-6th February 2015 to go to the Nursery World Show (NWS). This focuses on Early Years teaching and how we can make our practice the best it can be, to fit the needs of the children. I found this experience to be so helpful and enriching, being able to talk to skilled practitioners in the profession as well as listening to inspiring speakers who gave us vital information and advice. For me this show has helped me confirm what age I want to work with. Early Years is such an interesting age range for me that I cannot see myself anywhere else at this time. Of course to gain more experience I would teach in other years, however I am glad I am specialising in Early Years.

I enjoyed every single one of my seminars and found them to be particularly useful. I just wish that I could have gone to more of them! The seminars gave me lots of advice to put in to practice when I start teaching in Reception and has also given me more confidence. Everyone I met there reassured me that I would be brilliant when I started teaching. I also met two teachers from a nursery in Leeds who invited me to come and see how they work. What I forgot is that events like this allow you to network with professionals who can help you. I know that the contacts I made there will help me grow into the teacher I want to be, the best kind to help my class achieve their potential.

The NWS had plenty of different stalls selling lots of different resources, however one that I was particularly intrigued by was the Actiphons Stall. This made phonics so much more fun and engaging. I find that some children (mainly boys) struggle to be engaged by phonics because it doesn't interest them. This programme integrates phonics and physical activity. This is important in Reception and I think if used correctly it could work well in most classrooms. Actiphons works with many different phonics approaches so even if you were using Read, Write, Inc it can still be incorporated with this. I really liked their ethos and I would seek to use this if I had a class of my own.

You can find their website here: http://actiphons.com
You can also follow them on twitter: @actiphons

If you're a trainee teacher/qualified teacher check their website out and let me know what you think!

The NWS will be running again next year and I would advise any Early Years Professionals to sign up and go. It was worth every penny I spent just to get the experience and advice from the professionals. They have lots of stalls and live demos going on so there is definitely never a quiet minute!

If you want to know more about my experience you can message me using my links below!

Moody Monday's Volume 8: HAPPY MONDAY

Happy Monday Bloggers!

Yes yes yes it is true Megan has been so happy recently that I just have to share this with you all. As you probably know I've spent my weekend in London at the Nursery World Show 2015 and I have learnt so much that will really help with my teaching. If anything it's confirmed which age range I'd like to work with. Ideally working in Reception, but I'd love to be able to get some experience in a Nursery. I met some really inspiring people as well as making new friends.

London was so much fun as I met up with my friend from Kent Life (my placement back in November) and we had some lovely food paired with a beautiful, bubbly bottle of prosseco (mmm)! I also accidentally bought a new piglet in the disney store. How could I resist really? We had a lovely walk to Trafalgar Square which looks beautiful at night. I was singing songs from Frozen at the top of my voice! YES HAPPY MEG!

Selfie's with Piglet and Hannah in Trafalgar Square
Yes it seems that right now I am completely and utterly HAPPY. I can't stop smiling. Someone new has come into my life that makes me incredibly happy and I feel that finally I can move on and forget my worries. Hopefully this year will continue to be good for me because I think after last year I kinda deserve some good luck right? I will of course share with you who this person is, although the time might not be right so I'll leave that until I'm ready to shout it to the world.

I will be doing individual posts from my London trip. Tomorrow will be another Teaching Tuesday as I have quite a lot to share about the Nursery World show which I think would be quite beneficial to all trainee teachers/teachers who are working with Early Years children.

The realisation has hit that I unfortunately have an R.E portfolio to finish which is due Thursday (help) but I'm in a good mood so motivation is certainly not lacking! I've got some good music on and I'm grooving whilst working which is always a good sign!

I hope you've all had a good week last week and a good weekend! I hope this week will be good for you! Share with me a positive moment? Today will be a very rare happy, positive Monday for us all.

MONDAY TIP: If you get chance listen to Maroon 5- Sugar. I fully recommend the video and it makes me happy and is soon good. If you've listened to it let me know what you think?

Great shots if you're an Adam Levine fan!
