Friday Favourites: Tea and accessories

Hello Bloggers!

By now you should all know that I have an obsession with tea. I aim to a minimum of 3 cups a day, but there's no harm in having a few extra along the way!
Recently, I've started using my parents teapot (which is green and spotty and totally cute), however is it really strange that I want my own teapot with cute cups and saucers?! I do worry that this may sound a little crazy but it's just something I really want. I've been eyeing up various different teapots (I could probably own them all) and cute little tea cosies (a pig one has caught my eye) which I could technically afford. The only thing standing in my way is that I'm still living at home (sigh). I bought way too much stuff for my old flat and now that is being stored in various different parts of the house until I graduate and buy a house (excited). I honestly can't wait for that. I'm already like an old lady so living on my own with maybe a cat could potentially be the end of me.

This probably is just many of the few strange obsessions I have, however I wouldn't say I'm alone. I follow many tea junkies on twitter and I know that they might agree with me.

So if you want feel free to share your strange obsessions with me. I'd love to hear them!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday and you're looking forward to the weekend! I'm off to Nottingham today to visit my friend Hannah at her University and I might even see Abz if I get chance.

See you Monday!

Tuneful Tuesday's 5: Sia

Hello Bloggers!

These past few weeks I have been loving Sia. I was addicted to the Chandelier video and now I am equally in love with the video for Elastic Heart. Maddie Ziegler is a dancer I have watched grow since Dance Moms started. It's so nice to see her being recognised for her talent and getting to feature in amazing videos such as these. She has tons of support now and it's no wonder why. She has the ability to work with actors such as Shia LaBeouf in the new Elastic Heart video. They work so well together and really tell a story together. I've heard the video/song is based on her relationship with her father, which seems to fit the meaning of the video and the story the Maddie and Shia are trying to portray.

I would give anything to dance like that. Sadly I don't think my body was built to be a dancer and I truly believe it is something you have to start early in order to see progress made in time (something I did but then stopped doing).

I think music videos definitely can add something extra to an already brilliant song. This is the same for Sia as well as for Taylor Swift. The video to Blank Space makes it even more magical. Let's face it she looks flawless.

What do you think to Sia's new video? Do you like her music?

Moody Monday's Volume 6: A busy but exciting week ahead!

Hello Bloggers!

I just realised that I think I doubled up on Moody Monday posts last week so we certainly were very Moody! Anyhoo Monday has reared it's ugly face again and it's time to look forward to the week ahead. I have so much going on this week. It is a reading week at University and due to the lack of lectures I have OBVIOUSLY organised to do fun things during the day (whilst also leaving time to do important work and reading as well).

Monday is going to be my lazy day. A day I can spend in my PJs watching Pretty Little Liars and starting on the huge pile of Uni work I have to do in prep for next week's lectures.

Tuesday is when I'm off to go and spend the day in my upcoming placement class. I'm in Reception this year and I am so excited to see how different it is to Years 1&2. It will bring new challenges I am sure but I'm so motivated to become more confident in this age range.

Wednesday I have an R.E trip so it will be another early morning (boo) but I'll get to see my best friend Megan and have a good old sing song in the car (necessary)!

Thursday will be a lazy and chilled out morning/afternoon probably doing the same as I did on Monday. Then I will have to prep for a meal and karaoke evening with the girls which I'm so excited about! Snow please do me a favour and not mess this up because I've been practicing my karaoke songs and I'm ready ok?!

Friday will be a lazy morning slowly packing away my weekend things to prepare Derek (my car) and set off on my road trip to Nottingham. I will have my Sat-Nav set up as well as my Spotify playlist.

Saturday and Sunday will involve spending time with Hannah exploring Nottingham before driving home on the Sunday. I want this weekend to be filled with food, tea and wine all which are necessary for me to function relatively normally.

So as you can see this is the most I've done so far in a week. It's ok I think we can all admit that I am so lazy and would take tea, netflix and a pair of PJs over a night out any day! Sad...but true.

Hope your week looks exciting too!

Friday Favourites: EYES

Hello Bloggers!

Sorry this post is a little later than usual today, however this idea popped into my head half an hour ago so I thought I'd share it with you.

My eyes are probably one of the features I focus most on when it comes to make up. I'll be honest and say that I wouldn't know where to begin when putting foundation on my face. I think the most I use is a bit of concealer and powder to cover blemishes and spots. I guess I embrace my paleness and I am somewhat blessed with good skin (touch wood) that I feel I don't want to mess around with my skin too much adding foundation on as well.

Recently I invested in a Naked 3 Palette and I have to say it was money well spent! I honestly can't fault this palette and I have been using it almost everyday. What I like about it is that I can create a lot of different looks using it, so it feels like I've invested in lots of new make up instead of just a teeny palette.

I'm quite comfortable to play around with eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and create a new look without setting out an idea of how it will look at the end. I find that I can surprise myself and it makes the messing around worthwhile.

This was today's look. I honestly felt I put in a lot of effort just for one lecture at University!

Products: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Light Chantilly, Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in the shade Perversion, Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade Metallic Pomegranate, Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara, Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in the shade Rose Ivory (not in picture) and No7 Moisture Drench in the shade Rosy Ribbon.

To create this look I first used my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer all over my lid to prep my eyes. Then I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo and applied it all over my lid. The colour is really bold and dark. As my skin is quite pale I quite like having a dark, bold eyeshadow but I wanted to smoke the eye up and tone down the colour. To do this I used my Naked 3 Palette and used the shade 'Nooner' over the top of the Maybelline Color Tattoo. This helped to tone down the colour. The creaminess of the Color Tattoo allows my eyeshadow to stay on longer without creasing which means I don't have to invest in expensive primers. Over the top of 'Nooner' I applied 'Dust' to make my lid lighter and shimmery. This gave my eye a matte look, however when it was in the light it was shimmery. I really liked this effect and felt that it toned down what was already there before as I wanted a day look. Then in the crease of my lid I used 'Blackheart' and blended until it created the smokey eye. I don't think this looked too extreme I did blend this into my lid colour and felt that it evened out the look without it just looking like a block of colour. I feel it makes my eyes look bigger by doing this also making my eye colour 'pop' which on a dull day is really hard to do. Now sometimes I'll just plump for my Rimmel eyeliner to save on time, however as I decided to use my Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner and line the top of my lid near the lash line as thin as possible. As I did this I flicked at the edge of my eye as I am still loving this look and I feel it compliments my eye really well. To finish off my eye I used my Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara which I cannot rave about enough. I can't see me going back to cheaper brands now that I am happy with this. I have found a knack to ensure my eyelashes curl and look longer without having to use my eyelash curlers. I coat my lashes and roll the brush up the lashes whilst closing my eye. I hold it at the end of the lashes before letting go. I'll continue to do this until I'm happy. Today I opted for a bright lip and I've been loving No7's Moisture Drench range so far. I used 'Rosy Ribbon' which I bought just before Christmas and I am still in love with it. I'll admit I wouldn't have picked that out myself, however after a quick makeover from the ladies at No7 I instantly fell in love. It compliments my eyes and really works with my pale skin.

I hope you like this look as much as I do! Let me know if you try it or if you like it in the comments below. I also post other eye looks over on my instagram and twitter so feel free to follow me there.

Thanks for sticking with me and reading my posts. I appreciate every single page view and it makes it all worthwhile to know that you're reading. Don't be afraid to pop up and let me know if you read my posts. I reply and follow back on my social media accounts so hop on over there!

Friday Favourites: Talking

Hello Bloggers!

I love talking so here is a chatty post

This past week I've come to the realisation that I may not have enough shoes. I mean yes for a normal person I probably do, however I want more. I mean I've found some absolute beauties this week, although when my basket totalled up I was less inclined to press 'buy'.

The sad realisation is that if I want to buy more shoes and makeup and maybe even some new clothes, I'm going to have to get a job. Upon realising this I soon noticed that I'd have to give up my weekends to get enough hours to be worth working. This would mean when I started placement I'd be doing 8-5 at school and then coming home to work on planning which I usually stress over till 10pm and then have to work all weekend.

Does anyone else find that there is a significant unbalance of time at University especially if you're a trainee teacher? I love teaching, however I am bored of University and I am so eager to get a job and start earning. Just to have my own class and get settled into a school and also moving out!

That's one thing I'll never understand. Those people that are in their early 20's and still living at home. Granted I'll be 21 (ish) before I move into my own house, however at least I have a degree to get me a good job and earn a decent wage. The hunger and drive I have to move out and start my own life is unreal. I've never been one for renting as I feel like I'm throwing money away as that home will never be my own. If I buy my own house I can do what I want to it and make it a place to call 'home'.

I don't know about you but there is nothing more fun than shopping for a home. I adore trips to IKEA and deciding what I'd use in my own house. Lately, I've started envisioning my own place and how I'd like it to look. I'm focusing on colour, vintage, mis-match.

I don't really know where this post is going or the point of it, however I can talk for England so let's just do what I'm good at.

What are you most looking forward to in your future?

Tuneful Tuesday's 4: Artist of the week

Hello Bloggers!

Hozier. Hozier. Hozier.

Need I say more really?

Now for those of you who missed out on the Graham Norton show please go and check it out on BBC iPlayer. This is not only because Hozier was performing his most iconic track 'Take Me to Church' but also because Meryl Streep, Mark Ruffalo (who I keep calling Mark Gruffalo- primary teaching problems) and Ewan McGregor were hilarious. I haven't laughed at something that much in a while!

Another place you may have heard Hozier is on the opening scenes of Silent Witness Hozier's 'To Be Alone' was playing.

He's growing in popularity (hence the reason why many of his dates have sold out) DON'T WORRY I GOT TICKETS THIS TIME! I'm seeing him in Leeds on May 28th if any of you will be there. Look for the crazed loon fan-girling.

His self titled debut album has been something that has been on repeat on Spotify and I don't think I can rave about how good this is enough! Ever song for me is different but it flows perfectly from track to track. Really good when you're writing an essay because you can listen to a few chilled out ones then climb on your bed for a quick break to dance and air guitar to the more upbeat ones (yes obviously I was doing this). However, starting to think I'm ageing quite quickly as I swear I pulled my hip getting out of bed. I'm already a Granny and I've not even turned 20 yet.

Usually I would pick out my favourite tracks, however that would mean listing the entire album and that's pointless. Instead I'm recommending you either purchase tickets to see him if you haven't already, and if you haven't listened to his album then I urge you to! It's available on Spotify, iTunes and of course YouTube.

If you have a listen let me know what you think and if you have any other suggestions of who I should feature. I do reply to comments on here.

Hope you're enjoying me being more organised and on schedule- have to say it's new for me!

Moody Monday's Volume 5: Busy and exhausted

Hello Bloggers

It has come as a shock that I have managed to keep on schedule with my blog posts. I try to write them in advance rather than on the day so that if something comes up then I am not rushing and publishing a half-hearted post.

These last few weeks back at University have been so busy and stressful. I've had to try and find my own placement, drop a module after realising it's not what I want to do, making sure I'm ready for the University trip to Yprés as well as ensuring I have sorted documents and tickets for my trip to London for the Nursery World Show.

Stress. Stress. Stress.

I have to admit that this is taking it's toll on me. I get stressed and then my sleep gets disrupted. Another thing to note is that I've been having the strangest dreams- really weird.

Uni is so hard and sometimes I don't realise how hard it actually is. This post is going to be a shorter one today as I certainly have a lot on my plate right now! I guess we all have those weeks where everything gets on top of us!

Hope you're all managing stress better than I am!

Moody Monday's Volume 4: Lazy

Hello Bloggers!

I feel that I've swapped positivity for laziness. I feel like I've either aged or morphed into a cat. I constantly nap or yawn. I mean that can't be good right? I'm putting it down to the fact that returning to University has been a shock to the system. I can't cope with these dark, cold, early mornings!

I wake up most mornings cocooned in my tartan blanket underneath 2 duvets and another big blanket (necessary when living in a barn conversion) and my hot water bottle has left this wonderful pocket of warm air. You can't blame me really for not wanting to move!

I do, however, believe I have been productive as I have watched nearly all 4 seasons of Heroes on Netflix. Yes not an achievement for some people but I haven't regretted a second I spent napping or watching this series. I have loved every character and I'm sad I'm coming towards the end. Not as sad as I was when I finished Gossip Girl though. That was a bad Summer to say the least!

One positive thing that has happened so far this year is that I got a first in my alternate placement essay which I'm over the moon with!

A dilemma has arisen from my laziness, when I do finish Heroes I have to find a new boxset and I have NO idea where to begin!

This is where I look to you guys! Please keep fuelling my laziness and recommend your favourite box sets to me!

Although, lazy days can't last forever and I do have to open my eyes and see that I actually have to do my work *cries*.

I hope you're all ok and enjoying being back at school/university/work.

Please leave your box set suggestions below!

When is it time to stop texting a guy?

If you were asking yourself this question, the answer is probably now.

There is such a fine line between a friendship and "more than this." And you may think you're more than just a friend to him... but does he? Whatever you feel for him, sometimes you just need to force yourself to let go.

One of the hardest things can be deciding what you want from a guy, or what he wants from you. He may be flirting with you. But do those extra two kisses he put on the end of the text he sent you last night means he wants to marry you and have four children? We have to be realistic. He probably does that to the 20 other girls he texts.

Sometimes it can be dangerous to have a text relationship (texting him pretty much all the time you don't see him) with a guy you're probably just friends with. Especially if he is a work colleague, a friends brother or a classmate. He may be flirting with you, and he may sweet talk you... but isn't he just doing it over text? And does he say things like this to your face, or when other people are around? Boys fall culprit into playing the lonely game. So when they text you out of the blue, after ignoring those messages of yours and barely showing you a smile when you see him, he is probably lonely, and wants to feel like he has someone he can have as a back up plan.

Let me tell you this now, never be the back up plan.

I don't care if you've not had a boyfriend in months and you're feeling lonely yourself, or just broke up with a guy and want a rebound... never let yourself become disposable material. Because yeah, when he starts talking to you for the first time after a while you probably feel great, don't you? But in the back of your mind you know he will stop replying to your messages soon or change the way he acts with you.

In answer to the question, the perfect time to stop texting a guy who is a friend is if the convo moves to something thats a little other than just general chit chat, and then the next day he can't even be bothered to open your snapchat. On the rare occasion that your friend who is a guy does start flirting with you over text, take it slow. And the most important thing? Never lose that general chit chat. Don't let your conversations start with "morning beautiful" if they're just going to die flat within a few minutes of him telling you how good you look in your new selfie. This is all well and good, but if he isn't asking you how your day is (and you aren't asking him) then this probably will not work out.

The moral of the story is, don't be the text version of a booty call. You are a strong independent person and you don't need to lower yourself to feeling sad if some guy doesn't text you tonight. Feeling lonely yourself? Text an old friend, a new friend, a best friend, a sibling or family member. Talk about memories, find out what they're doing in their life now, have a laugh about that time you both did something really stupid, and more importantly, tell them you love them.

Until next time,
Raven. XO

Friday Favourites: Shopping Trip

Hello Bloggers!

Last Friday I went shopping with my brother to Meadowhall. I was so excited to spend my Christmas money! We were up early to go to the bank prior to setting off on the hour's drive. The weather was sunny (which was a pain as I'm not tall enough for the visor to shield my eyes) and really windy! Nevertheless this shopping trip was successful and I thought I'd show you all what I bought.

Cath Kidston have a sale on at the moment and I've been wanting to buy a bag from there for a while. The sale tempted me in and I was soon browsing all the lovely sale items (believe me I could've bought so much had I had the money)! I was looking for a new bag for University, preferably a backpack that I could carry my MacBook in as well as my books. I'll be honest I had to narrow it down from three but I finally decided on a cute little dark green rucksack with cream spots on. Weirdly the bag at the front was priced at £36 whilst the bag behind it was priced at £30 (nothing was wrong with it) so I'm glad I looked behind otherwise I would've paid more. The bag was £45 so I thought this was a bargain! I'm so tempted to buy something else, I would recommend you to go and check their sale out! The backpack I decided on has a quilted laptop sleeve inside that fits most 13 inch laptops (so my Mac fits easily), which will come very handy on those late night library trips!

Backpack- £30

I've been eyeing up Urban Decay's Naked palette's for a while now and my mum had told me to treat myself with my Christmas money. After all that's what it's for...right? After surfing the web and reading a lot of blogs and reviews on the Naked palette's I decided that the Naked 3 was the best fit for my skin tone. I am used to using a lot darker eyeshadows and felt the Naked 3 would allow me to create more natural looks for day to day wear. I am totally in love with this palette (although I have yet to use it)! With the Naked 3 palette I also purchased an eyeliner from Urban Decay. It's a normal waterproof black eyeliner. I'm used to using pencil liner's and shall be interested to compare this with my current favourite liner from Nars. If I don't like the Urban Decay liner I shall let you know as I will probably end up back with Nars!

Naked 3 palette- £37
Eyeliner- £15

I'd been searching for a nice comfy cardi for a while now and as I passed Urban Outfitters I noticed their up to 75% off sale. I had to have a browse! Now I saw a lot of things I liked unfortunately they were not low enough in price or sadly not in my size (this was sadly the case for this gorgeous playsuit I found with a cute collar). Yes sad when you can't find the stuff you want in the sale! However, I did stumble upon a beautiful green chenille cardigan. They only had the size small available and I tried it on and it does fit nicely. I would say its still quite roomy and I'm about a size 14. I adore this cardigan and I think it suits my hair colour perfectly! Due to the cold and unpredictable weather we have here in the UK I know I will get a lot of wear out of this! I'm rather glad this was reduced in the sale as I wouldn't have paid full price for this! Luckily I had my trusted NUS card and got my student discount on this little number.

Pins & Needles Chenille Cardigan- Was £45 now £25

Hope you like my buys!

What did you get in the sales this year?

Tuneful Tuesday's 3: Artist of the Week

Years and Years

Hello Bloggers!

I've been waiting to write about this trio. They are one of my fave artists at the minute and their fan base is continually growing. I've been a fan of this band since last year and I've seen them release new EP's and I think they get better with every track.

I still listen to their 'Traps' EP, however with the release of their new song Desire I'm currently in love with Memo.

This band have already sold their upcoming headline tour (of course I missed out on tickets-damn), however I'm still hoping I will one day get to see them.

These are the Years and Years tracks I have on my Spotify Playlist that I listen to often (ok nearly every night as I fall asleep)- but it's necessary!

1. Illuminate- Tourite feat Years and Years
2. Memo
3. Desire
4. Sunlight- The Magician feat Years and Years
5. You & I
6. Traps
7. Real
8. Breathe
9. Take Shelter

I'm so happy that I hear them on Radio 1 a lot and they've been doing sessions with Huw Stephens. It's about time they got noticed for their amazing talent! I've converted my parents and I think secretly they're fans!

They were nominated for this years Critics Choice award at the Brits but were beaten by James Bay. I must say this years category was hard and I liked a lot of the artists nominated. Even though they didn't win this year I know that 2015 will be a huge year for this band. If you have a ticket to see them let me know what they are like, I'm gutted I missed out!

Let me know if you listen to/have listened to Years and Years because I want to know what YOU think!

Moody Monday's Volume 3: Tidy Bedroom, Tidy Mind

Hello Bloggers!

It's that time of year again where I have a huge clear out after the Christmas period. After prying my eyes off my Heroes episode (which I am currently binge watching on Netflix) I decided to open up some black bin liners and get chucking!

I admit I am so not girly when it comes to my room! You would think I was the stereotypical man. However I did change that and soon started chucking away clothes that I hadn't worn in ages and instead of throwing them into the bin I've sent them to the charity shop (a much better use for them than sitting in my drawers). I always like throwing my stuff away and starting again. I hate it whilst I'm doing it but when I've finished I feel so much better.

I never realised how much work I got from University. I've thrown so much unnecessary paperwork away and reorganised my files which makes me feel like I'm on top of things (kind of). One tip I recommend to everyone is getting yourself a cute diary! I bought mine last year however the bonus is I label the dates/months I want so that I'm not wasting weeks when I'm on University holiday. I've dated the rest of the diary which means I won't have to get a new one until next University Year which starts in September (final year ahhh). Another helpful tip I like using is my whiteboard. I invested in some beautiful berol whiteboard pens in a range of colours (ooh how teacher like of me) to encourage me to use it more often. I now use this to write down my timetable (the top right hand corner) and a to do list (left hand side) so that I know what I have to do. This worked really well for me last semester. I hated seeing the board full so I cracked on and got the work done so I could rub it off and not see it again!

I felt by throwing away some of the clothes I was motivating myself to keep to my New Years Resolution of losing a bit of weight. I've eaten so much over Christmas (necessary) but now I feel a bit groggy and a nice detox will do me good! Getting fitter will also be an added bonus as I'm starting to feel so old- aching body! Looking at some of my size 16 dresses and seeing how horrendous I looked in them. I really didn't know how to dress my body at all. I made myself look bigger.

The unfortunate thing I find when looking for clothes though is finding something that fits my body as well as my bust. I'm 5"2 and with a DD chest I feel I'm somewhat out of proportion. What fits my middle doesn't fit my bust, however what fits my bust makes my body look unshapely and rather large. This puts me off buying clothes so much which is a shame. I'm hoping this diet may help me solve this problem allowing shopping to be fun again.

I want to stress that I won't be stressing over this! This is my choice and I want to do this. I know my current diet isn't healthy and by making better choices I know I can feel better inside and out!

Sad to say I'm back to University tomorrow. My Christmas holidays have flown by!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!
